Moodswing Manifesto
What happens when five middle-aged gal pals try to recapture the dreams of their youth? (Wo)menopausal Madness!
"Moodswing Manifesto" is a rowdy celebration of womanhood, motherhood, friendship, and all things female—including creative tips for handling the hazards of hormones, reasons why chocolate constitutes its own food group, reflections on relationships from first loves to fidelity, and the never-ending appeal of "dragging Main." It's a novel that will make you laugh out loud, forget your hot flashes, and trade in your control-top panty hose for a sequin guitar strap! Now if we could just get it in print so you can read it...
Here's the plot: When old feelings of jealousy and betrayal mix with new symptoms of middle age, moods aren't the only thing swinging! Divorced, childless, facing fifty, and tired of being mistaken for Britney Spears' mom, has-been country diva Hayley Spears reluctantly accepts a small-town summer tour that kicks off with her 30th high school reunion. Her neglect of her four best friends and her memories of the boy she left behind in tiny Moss Heap, Mississippi, make Hayley wary of returning home. But a menopausal meltdown in the ladies' room brings the girlfriends together again and, after a flawless impromptu performance of the song they sang at graduation—the song Hayley turned into a chart-topping hit—she impulsively invites her friends to join her on tour. The women revel in their belated fifteen minutes of fame until a series of mishaps convinces them that their simple lives are far richer than they realized. Shattering news about one of the women forces Hayley to reassess her priorities in life, and her place in the world but, in the end, they all live happily ever after...though not quite in the manner they had expected.
